as a DIY fan of mutable instruments I,m interested of your Midirex Soon)
but I must ask you about paiement.
I usually byu things with a prepaid visa card. I’ts alos known as a giftcard,
this to not take risk of been hacked in my own Visa card.
You use some paypal form, is it ok for me to order with prepaid card?
(excuse my bad English)
Hi Denis, unfortunately i can only accept payments via PayPal.
Hey Peter, I want to thank you for building such an amazing product as the MidiRex! It is a mystery for me that there are no midi-controllers/keyboards that include this.
I have three questions to ask you:
1. Is this device plug&play? I mean, can I just plug in the power supply and the midi cables, and then I am good to go? (It was not clear to me reading the price list)
2. Do you by any chance now if this will work with my Prophet 12 and if it will also record the changes I do to the faders (I think they are midi cc)? Is there an “overdub” function?
3. And last: how soon can you ship when I order one today? 🙂
Have a great Day and keep up the great work!
1. MidiREX is very easy to operate, just plug it between you MIDI keyboard and your synths, switch it on, press REC, record, press PLAY and it will loop
2. I don’t see why it would not work with P12. MidiREX records CCs and other MIDI events (no sysex’es currently). It has overdub/replace function.
3. MidiREX PCBs and MCUs are in stock, so they will be shipped in a couple of days after the payment is made.
Thank you for the fast answer! MidiRex is exactly what I am looking for.
PCB = Printed Circuit Board?
MCU = MicroControl Unit?
Does that imply that I have to “assemble” the device myself?
Sorry if my questions sound stupid.
Yes, MidiREX, like all other projects on this site, is a DIY project. You buy PCB and MCU (if you cannot falsh one yourself), buy parts at Digikey/Mouser/Farnell, and build it yourself.
What power supply does Rex need?
I can’t find this info anywhere (?) Nine volts DC?
9VDC 2.1mm jack center positive
9VDC center positive 2.1mm jack
Yeah, MidiREX runs on 5V internally, so if you remove 7805 voltage regulator and provide 5V directly from USB or any other power supply, it will work.
Hi Peter, is it possible for you to supply the full kit? Cheers, Tim.
Hi Tim, i can only supply a PCB, pre-programmed MCU, and a few parts that are hard to get in EU. Everything else is readily available from electronic parts suppliers, BOM is available here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SkD-uk9lj6O9TZh9gKA-0dwaPZ64ojK8r_wY0vH9a7c/edit?pli=1#gid=0
Hi Pete, do you send midirex PCB to Brazil? Thank you
I’m using USPS and they send stuff all over the world.
¡Hello! ¿Can you send to Israel?¿How fast would it arrive? Thanks in advance.
Yeah, why not. Hard to say, it mostly depends on your customs, however i’d expect about 2 weeks, kike to Europe.
I just paid $60 by PayPal for one MIDIREX.
Please, email me when you have the box for the MIDIREX.
Oops, normally it’s the other way around — i’ll send you invoice and you pay it. Anyway, i’ll locate your payment and process it asap.
I’d like to order “MidiREX main board” and “Pre-programmed ATMega644p”, please send paypal invoice to the provided e-mail address.
I live in France (Europe).
Please send an email to the email specified on the MidiREX Ordering page: https://midisizer.com/midirex/ordering-midirex/
Hi ! Is the project still alive ? Thanks
Hello! Is there a chance of ordering a pre-built MidiREX in a case?
Yeah, please contact me at the email address specified at the MidiREX ordering page.
Hi kvitekp, I want to ask few things about thus device:
1. If I need the thing which is all set up when I receive it ( just plug and play ), what plan should I choose?
2. Is there a clear ( not black ) case for this device?
3. I’m in Taipei, Taiwan; can you ship it here? And if you could, how much would it cost?
Fully assembled MidiGAL in an acrylic case is $200. Shipping to Taiwan is $25, so it’s $225 total. You will only need to add standard 9VDC 100mA or more, 2.1mm center positive power supply.
I only have black acrylic cases in stock. Can order a clear glass too, but that would take a couple of weeks to fab.
Hi! Am very interested but have some questions cause it is very hard to find
I want to use it as a live midi looper so…is there some manual or something like that were I can see in more detail what it does.
Thanks in advance!!
Have you checked this reference: https://midisizer.com/midirex/midirex-reference/ ?
Any chance of getting already built MidiRex?
Or has the MidiGal got the same HW?
Sure, at this moment I have one fully assembled MidiREX that is ready to go. Please contact me at the email address specified at the ordering page.
MidiGAL and MidiREX hardware is very different.
Thank you for this fantastic device!
finally someone has invented that!
What is your price for a fully assembled and programmed MidiREX without a Box shipped to Germany?
i want to add it to my nordrack3 with 4x multitimbral
–> is it possible to select different Channels for Input and Output to play two Synths at the same time?
–> for example:
Track 1 =
Track 2 =
In Ch. 1
Out: Ch. 3
THX and best regards
Fully assembled MidiREX without the case is $160, with case $200, shipping to Germany $25.
Yes, MidiREX output tracks can surely have different channels, and they usually do playing different instruments. That’s the whole point of this device 😉
This project seems pretty good for playing live.
One thing that I don’t get is does it necessarily record in 4/4 ?
I mean if I wish to play loops that are 7 or 11 or 13 notes, for exemple,
would it be possible ?
Do you know if there are any other sequencers that do that kind of recording ?
With MidiREX you can set track to any length, with 1/96 of a quarter note without quantizing.
I’d love to order a fully assembled midi Rex. Please let me know how to proceed.
I’ll send you an email when your unit is ready sometime this week. Please contact me using the email address specified at the ordering page here: https://midisizer.com/midirex/ordering-midirex/
Hi Peter. I send mail to You 🙂
Sorry forgot to put what I wanted to buy lol. A fully assembled midigal. Could you clarify your contact email
is it possible to flash a MI Shruthi with the midirex firmware? it looks very similar?
Absolutely not. Shruthi and MidiREX are very different internally: for example, Shruthi has no static RAM to store recordings.
